I loved this book I know it is written for a younger audience than me but it was still very entertaining My idea of a good book is when I want to keep reading, keep turning pages This book definitely did that I loved the story line and plot I enjoyed the authors writing style and hope to readsomeday

This story has an interesting premise and a few twists that aren t quite expected though they are foreshadowed I can see why she chose to write this story in the first person, going for the immediacy of the protagonist s experience, but it gave the story lots of pacing issues I felt like I had to wait for the main character to process and think through everything, describe it all in his head, before he would act or say what was happening next, which made the action drag, often spoiling what This story has an interesting premise and a few twists that aren t quite expected though they are foreshadowed I can see why she chose to write this story in the first person, going for the immediacy of the protagonist s experience, but it gave the story lots of pacing issues I felt like I had to wait for the main character to process and think through everything, describe it all in his head, before he would act or say what was happening next, which made the action drag, often spoiling what could have been key moments of yikes It also kept the protagonist fairly flat I never got a good look at him The mother was frustrating for me Her interactions with her son were often dismissive, where she was fairly constantly threatening him with punishment, demanding that he behave when she herself was being pushy and bossy, entirely disbelieving anything he said, and insisting he enjoy himself in the ways she wanted him to rather than allowing him to relax as he pleased It was an uncomfortable relationship, but I get the idea that it was supposed to be nice Hm Despite the aspects of the book that didn t work for me, I did read to the end to see how it ended What this tells me is that L.T Downing should writesuspense thrillers She has what it takes, and withstories to build on, I think they ll get progressively better until she can get me on the edge of my seat

This is one of those books that doesn t let you go easily The pacing is quick, the characters interesting, and the spooky moments well executed There was a particular sub plot that kept me guessing the whole time And the ending has a satisfying emotional tone Great reading.
