In my opinion, this has to be one of the best Interracial Romance Sci Fi novels of the year Not only was it captivating, but it was highly imaginative well written Simply put, I loved it The world building was incredible, so much so that I felt like was actually there with Carmella, Bilal Raj Pepper Pace definitely has the goods.Giving this one 5 spectacular stars In my opinion, this has to be one of the best Interracial Romance Sci Fi novels of the year Not only was it captivating, but it was highly imaginative well written Simply put, I loved it The world building was incredible, so much so that I felt like was actually there with Carmella, Bilal Raj Pepper Pace definitely has the goods.Giving this one 5 spectacular stars

This book was great I honestly took a look at the synopsis and was like, no thank you Then I thought back to every book I said I wasn t going to read by her and did Hero s with serious disabilities that she made sexy because she made you look at the man in WOS and not just his disability. In Juicy, she gave me the ghetto girl with the serious attitude and the homeless man and made their romance as beautiful as any other because she showed you the people behind the stereotypes So I settled in This book was great I honestly took a look at the synopsis and was like, no thank you Then I thought back to every book I said I wasn t going to read by her and did Hero s with serious disabilities that she made sexy because she made you look at the man in WOS and not just his disability. In Juicy, she gave me the ghetto girl with the serious attitude and the homeless man and made their romance as beautiful as any other because she showed you the people behind the stereotypes So I settled in with Adaptation and could not put it down The heroine, Carmella, whole world has been destroyed by Centaurians, an alien race The Centurian hero, Bilal, identifies with humans and wants to reach out to Carmella He eventually does and Carmella reacts accordingly

Adaptation is dedicated to the memory of Octavia Butler I wasn t sure what to make of either the dedication or the book s forward, but as I got into the heart of Adaptation, it all made sense This book isn t a traditional romance novel not even in the sci fi or paranormal sub genres , but falls into that gray area where genre types collide Adaptation tells the story of a one very alien species falling in love with a lone human woman I was surprised by this story because it exists very comfo Adaptation is dedicated to the memory of Octavia Butler I wasn t sure what to make of either the dedication or the book s forward, but as I got into the heart of Adaptation, it all made sense This book isn t a traditional romance novel not even in the sci fi or paranormal sub genres , but falls into that gray area where genre types collide Adaptation tells the story of a one very alien species falling in love with a lone human woman I was surprised by this story because it exists very comfortably outside of the romance box, yet it can also fit quite comfortably there Pace is a beautiful writer and she does a marvelous job exploring themes of genocide, social restitution, forgiveness, alienation, loneliness, and family And then she throws in a very unique romance on top of all of that.A great read My only disappointment in this novel is the ending Adaptation basically ends with the beginning of the second book of the series, and thus this book feels very incomplete If Pace had ended the book a little sooner and without the cliffhanger, I think it would be a stronger read But that s the only downside of reading Adaptation Otherwise, I loved the characters and I loved their journey Pace made Carmella a little cray in her loneliness and I thought that was very realistic Her isolation from has warped her a little, her hatred for the aliens that inadvertently caused the end of the world is also framed so that it makes perfect sense I liked that Carmella slowly becomes acclimated to the presence of the alien Bilal was a great character as well, flawed as any human I loved how he develops over the course of the novel, and the transition in the end that marks a kind of evolution It almost reads like Bilal transitions from adolescence into adult hood and that s very crucial for the novel.Overall, again, a great read and I will be looking forfrom Ms Pace

I have stopped typing out reviews mainly because it s annoying to me on the ipad I m old school and need a keyboard I try to have enough shelves to give books a decent review Also, usually Pepper Pace is hit or miss for me Loved, loved, loved Beast The rest, meh, they were ok However, I felt this book was different enough it justified my one finger misspellings on the ipad Here goes I was reluctant to try this book and it took me a minute to get fully involved, however, I was shocked I have stopped typing out reviews mainly because it s annoying to me on the ipad I m old school and need a keyboard I try to have enough shelves to give books a decent review Also, usually Pepper Pace is hit or miss for me Loved, loved, loved Beast The rest, meh, they were ok However, I felt this book was different enough it justified my one finger misspellings on the ipad Here goes I was reluctant to try this book and it took me a minute to get fully involved, however, I was shocked to find I enjoyed it Enjoyed it to the point of I m at 81% and although I have housework to do, I need to finish this kind of enjoyment It was not over the top, didn t have overt sexual content, and the emotions of both Carmella human heroine , and Raj alien were realistic and understandable It also pointed out the fact that humans are social beings and although some would deny it, even the most depraved crave contact, communication and touch Those are as basic of needs as food and water sometimes I would definitely recommend this book, however, it has to be to someone who enjoys sci fi Those who don t enjoy that genre will not like the book and we all know I love sci fi TTFN Elise
