What a way to introduce children to various cultures of the world Okaasama is 'mother' in Japanese and 'Otousama' is father Basically this is a book where children learn the different words for mother and father in different cultures
I enjoyed this picture book that teaches readers how to say Mother and Father in 18 different languages including Kikiyu and Tagalog The rhyming lines are fun to say and once readers realize that they are learning new languages they will enjoy the book immensely I have to confess that at first I wasn't sure exactly what was going on Each family unit has a colorful page devoted to it and readers will make note of the different ways that families explore their lives and make sense of their days
Wonderful readaloud has names for parents in a zillion different languages along with an infection rhyme and fun illustrations
