Great book for those who want to get the most out of Photoshop.

I must have bought something a few years ago that included a PhotoShop Elements 6 CD. Even though I use another photo editing program, I decided to install PSE 6 and give it a try. The help was basic but had links to online manuals and tutorials on the Adobe website, rather amazing considering PSE 9 is the current version. A web search returned many more helpful tips, examples, and tutorials.

I usually need a book though, so off I went to the library. Since their technology books are usually outdated, I felt confident they’d have what I wanted. They actually had several PSE 6 and 7 books but this one was clearly the best. It had heavy glossy pages with great example photos and was the easiest to follow and understand. The author’s writing was clear and informative with a touch of humor. I enjoyed following along using the same photos as the book that were available as free downloads.

Mr Kelby said this book was not a complete reference and didn’t treat layers in depth, but it was intense enough for me. Now I can tackle those online tips if I want to learn more.

The Photoshop Elements 6 Book for Digital Photographers is a little overwhelming with over 470 pages of information. I like the way it is organized very much. It demonstrates how to do various things to your photos and in what order to do them rather than showing you what the various options of the program are. It goes step by step for each task with illustrations of both what one sees in the program and what your photo looks like at that step.

Also, the author presents his work flow and makes recommendations of settings such as feathering and radius to use as a first guess rather than just showing the range of values.

I read this book as a new user of Photoshop Elements, but I believe that even an experienced user would learn things from this book.

This is wonderful. Scott Kelby gives great instructions and tells exactly how to correct, edit, sharpen, and retouch your digital photographs. Definitely a book to buy for Photoshop Elements users because it will be a reference over and over and over. I knew Photoshop would be great, but I had no idea of the possibilities for my photographs until I read through this.

My cousin-in-law recommended this book. (If you want to know why I would ask her advice, check out her web site at www.laurafarrisphotography.blogspot.com. She's amazing.)

Anyway, this book was fabulous. It answered all of my questions and had all of the techniques and tips that I was looking for.

    Thank, Laura.

This book is the BOMB! If you need to know how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements, this is the book for you. I learned more from this book than any other! I've moved on to Photoshop CS4, but I still use the techniques and ideas from this book today.

Unfortunatly, I can't remember who I loaned it to and I don't have it anymore. But the lessons are in my brain!

    Highest recommendation.

  7. Chelsea says:

Fantastic reference book. Tasks are broken down into simple steps and include photos of what you are supposed to do. Being able to remove an unwanted hair and whiten my teeth in my wedding photos made this book worth every penny!

  8. Amy says:

    LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

  9. Diane Isaac Friedman says:

This has been an amazing resource for a Photoshop newbie.

  10. Melanie says:

Oh my goodness... have learned so much from this book. I keep it close and use it every time I edit my photos!!!
