I read this book as part of the curriculum for a graduate class in research methods This book is an excellent read for anyone who wishes to learn about the history and the current landscape of school choice in America I have found that books like this are well suited for learning but are unlikely to capture the public's attention because it seeks to be balanced descriptive and accurate Books such as this one conscientiously do not take a stance on the issues they discuss Their authors seek to present reasoned and well documented views of how we got here what is important and what is distraction As such any anger that roused in me was uickly tempered by thoughts of I can see how that makes sense to people even if I disagree In that regard I think that books like these are valuable so that readers have somewhere to turn when the noise and partisanship that appears in so many places in life becomes overwhelming
