    This book must have been a huge undertaking divided up into 12 different sections by region it contains a wealth of recipes and is beautifully designed and photographed It is a book written by an outsider looking in in this case a white Australian woman but Christine Manfield seems to have gone to considerable effort to respectfully engage with local chefs and home cooks to bring authentic Indian food to western readers I have only tried to make a few of the recipes so far but the instructions were easy clear and the results were great

    Beautiful book with a tactile bright yellow silky cover and huge with gorgeous pictures covering what seems like every region of India with recipes ranging from spicy vegetables pickles curries and breads through to coconut soufflé spiced uail and Indian sweets Dishes are arranged by region and each section comes with an introduction to its geography culture food and the author's experience there There's also great section at the back for ingredients euipment base pastes and sauces etc and a directory of recommendations if you are visiting India and are after somewhere to eat sleep or shop Am still working my way though it
