I really enjoyed this story without having read the earlier books in this seriesThere was a lot of reflection about prior events but they were clearly explained and integrated into the current situation It took half the book for the first body to drop so we got to see the players involved and the issues at workThe characters are all real people not cardboard players put on the board I have attended University but never was on staff Who knew there were such intrigues involved?Lev has a very pleasing writing style no graphic sex or violence The story was told without flashbacks and time hoppingI appreciated receiving a copy from the publisher for my honest review

This is the 9th book in the Nick Hoffman mysteries This book takes place months after the bloody assault on SUM and Nick Stefan are getting back to normal The couple have sold their house and purchased a new one blocks away They're both attempting to adjust to getting back into teaching their offices are now in a new building and deal with a new head of their department Napoleon Padovani the new department head ways to deal with his staff is by threats intimidation harassment and cruelty which he does with a smile Napoleon has a growing enemies list Need I say what happens next? This is a good read

A funny read It could be a very funny book for readers who have spent time in higher education Raphael uses the uses the old set up in which a number of characters could be the killer Sometimes when reading this book I thought of those books and movies in which a group of people tries to figure who is the murderer among them Of course this novel tells us the story of an English Department at a big university located in Michigan The jokes and the turns in the story line are as easy to find as the significance of the setting of the novel at State University of Michigan SUM It's a wonder they didn't print the book in green and white

Nice to see that this series is still continuing The primary characters are a wonderful gay couple but each is uniue in their talents The stories are intricately plotted to revolve around University life I have to say that after reading these books I would never want to work anywhere near a universityVery solid read

It's great to be back with Nick and Stefan and their shenanigans As always Rafael does a great job weaving the interesting aspects of the protagonists' lives into a good murder mystery
