35 stars rounded down This a light fun read about Steve Mcueen He was an interesting guy and this book shows his good and bad ualities He freuently spent money earned by his wivesgirlfriends on himself He used trickery to convince store owners that he was returning an item for cash while he was scrounging his way around New York city in his teens and early 20s But he did the same thing on the night of his daughter's birth in 1959 He had already hit it big financially with Wanted Dead or Alive He walked into a wine store with no cash in his pockets and tricked the clerk into giving him a free bottle of wine He also funded the Steve Mcueen fund at the Boys Republic in 1963 which provided a four year scholarship to the top graduating student He also took it upon himself to help the Navajo Nation in the 4 corners area where Utah Arizona New Mexico and Colorado meet Every few months he loaded up one of his trucks with food basic medical supplies and blankets He delivered them personally There is a great deal of information on Mcueen's motorcycles cars races movietv roles and personal life I am not a race fan or carmotorcycle buff I did enjoy the movietv triviaI recommend this book to a fan of any of the aboveThank You Tyler Greenblatt and Car Tech for sending me this book through LibrayThing

I really liked this book The format reminds of reminds me of organizing a stack of index cards to write a paper for a class assignment Which makes it easy to read or to later skim for reminding of something of special interest The chapters cover his life from beginning to end and are divided into sections covering his personal life info on his time in movies his automobile collection and his racing now to pick a few nits; In the picture section a picture of Mcueen in a race car is captioned Mcueen takes a uick breakthe driver's seat of his Lotus 11 but the car is not a Lotus Even if you don't recognize the car on sight the emblem on the front of the car clearly says LOLA not Lotus And even perplexing through out the book Moss' given name is sometimes misspelled Sterling and sometimes correctly Stirling Small errors that do not detract from the telling of Steve Mcueen's fascinating life story But to some of us these are also of importance now to pick a few nits; In the picture section a picture of Mcueen in a race car is captioned Mcueen takes a uick breakthe driver's seat of his Lotus 11 but the car is not a Lotus Even if you don't recognize the car on sight the emblem on the front of the car clearly says LOLA not Lotus And even perplexing through out the book Moss' given name is sometimes misspelled Sterling and sometimes correctly Stirling Small errors that do not detract from the telling of Steve Mcueen's fascinating life story But to some of us these are also of importance
